The Royal Horticultural Society's
Award of Garden Merit (AGM)
What is the AGM?
"With more than 100,000 plants available in the UK alone, how can you tell which plants are the best for all-round garden value? The RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM) exists to help gardeners make that choice. Plants of all kinds can be considered for the AGM, including fruit and vegetables. Though growing conditions and plant types may vary, the purpose of the award is always the same: to highlight the best plants available to the home gardener." The Royal Horticultural Society
Presented by the Royal Horticultural Society, the AGM represents an internationally recognised standard of excellence. It's given to a plant that meets particularly exacting criteria. For example, it must be of outstanding excellence for ordinary garden use, have a good constitution and not require specialist growing condirtions or care. In addition, it can't be susceptible to pests or disease. Quite a tall order, in other words! Nevertheless you'll find plenty of varietes in the T&M range which have met this standard.
